Jackie and Shadow's 2026 Eaglets Have Names: Meet Sandy and Luna

Big Bear Valley's beloved bald eagle pair welcomes two newly named eaglets this season.

By Big Bear News1 min read1 source

Big Bear Valley's favorite bald eagle family has two new names to celebrate. The eaglets hatched this season to resident pair Jackie and Shadow have officially been named Sandy and Luna, according to reports from the eagle cam community.

Jackie and Shadow have become local celebrities over the years, drawing tens of thousands of online viewers to live eagle cam streams that showcase nest life high above the mountains surrounding Big Bear Valley. The naming of each new eaglet has become an eagerly anticipated tradition among fans both in the valley and around the world.

Details on how Sandy and Luna were selected — including whether the names were chosen through a public vote or by the eagle cam hosting organization — could not be confirmed at the time of publication. Big Bear News has reached out to local wildlife and eagle cam organizations for additional comment.

Residents and eagle cam enthusiasts can follow Sandy and Luna's progress by tuning into the live nest camera stream online. Watch for updates as the eaglets continue to grow and, eventually, take their first flights over the valley.
