The Mountains Foundation brought Earth Day to the Big Bear Discovery Center this month, pairing the celebration with Volunteer Appreciation Week to spotlight community conservation work in the valley.
The organization's Urban Conservation Corps crews were active throughout the stretch of events, according to the foundation. The foundation described the month as "a powerful reminder that caring for our planet goes beyond a single day – it's a shared, ongoing effort".
The events leaned into a theme of sustained, community-wide stewardship rather than a one-time occasion — a message aimed squarely at year-round residents who live and recreate in the San Bernardino National Forest.
