Awesome hike! The views were spectacular, and the trail offered almost complete solitude - even on a Saturday. The way up was definitely strenuous as others have said. It's pretty consistently uphill. Bring water and snacks. The ridge that the 2nd part of the trail runs along offered some amazing sweeping views. Strenuous but beautiful hike. Road to trailhead parking is really bad. Looks like the flash floods damage it but is passable. I wouldn't recommend low profile vehicles to try to make it through. Low profile vehicles maybe should park at Hatchery and the 38 at the entrance. This hike starts at a slow incline and will get your heart rate going.
