Jackie, the beloved bald eagle who has nested in Fawnskin and attracted a devoted following of fans and nest cam watchers across Big Bear Valley and beyond, remains in critical condition following her rescue last weekend. The Ojai Raptor Center confirmed the update on July 22, describing her situation as "a very serious case."
Jackie was rescued over the weekend of July 19 from an area near her nest in Fawnskin in the San Bernardino Mountains and was transported to the Ojai Raptor Center for treatment. The facility, a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation center in Ventura County, has assigned her the patient identifier "Bald Eagle patient 26-519."
The full circumstances surrounding Jackie's rescue — including what prompted it and who carried it out — could not be confirmed from available sources. Perspectives from the Friends of Big Bear Valley nest cam operators, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and others involved in her care have not yet been made public.
Fans of Jackie can monitor updates through the Ojai Raptor Center, which has been the sole source of information on her condition so far. Big Bear News will continue to follow this story as more details become available.
