The U.S. Forest Service has temporarily closed Carbine Flat Spur A OHV Road (3N59A) on the San Bernardino National Forest, cutting off a route that many off-highway vehicle riders use to access public lands beyond the forest boundary.
The road runs 4.8 miles from its junction with Carbine Flat OHV Road (3N59) along the northern forest boundary before terminating at a Bureau of Land Management road. From there, the route continues west across BLM land to Deep Creek Road in Hesperia — making 3N59A an important connector for riders accessing that corridor.
No reason for the closure or an expected reopening date was provided in the Forest Service notice. OHV riders who rely on this route for recreation or through-access should plan alternate paths in the meantime.
When the road does reopen, riders should note that California law requires all OHVs operating on forest-covered, brush-covered, or grass-covered land to have a current registration and a spark arrestor that is maintained and in effective working order.
For updates on the closure status, check the San Bernardino National Forest recreation pages at fs.usda.gov or contact the local ranger district directly.
