Historical Society to explore local eagles and Tesla coils at September meeting

Presenters Trish Green and Owen Phairis bring together wildlife and electrical history for the Big Bear Valley Historical Society's September 10 gathering.

By Big Bear News1 min read

The Big Bear Valley Historical Society will host its September meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Bridges Presbyterian Fellowship, 579 Knickerbocker in Big Bear Lake — and this month's program promises a distinctly eclectic mix of local history.

Presenters Trish Green and Owen Phairis will take the floor with a talk titled "Local Eagles and Tesla Coils," blending what sounds like Big Bear Valley's natural wildlife heritage with the fascinating — and perhaps unexpected — history of electrical technology in the area. Specific details about the content of their presentation could not be confirmed ahead of publication, but the pairing alone is enough to spark curiosity.

The Historical Society meets on the second Thursday of every month from March through November and opens its doors to both members and the general public alike. Light refreshments will be provided.

The September 10 meeting is open to all Big Bear Valley residents and visitors. Those interested in learning more about the society or its regular programming can look for future events on the Big Bear Chamber's community calendar.
