Big Bear MX Grand Prix returns to Bear Mountain for five days of motocross racing in August
More than 900 riders from across the country will take on a 3-mile course built on ski runs and fire roads Aug. 19–23.

Bear Mountain Ski Resort is trading snowboarders for dirt bikes as the Big Bear MX Grand Prix comes to the mountain for only the second time ever. More than 900 motocross riders are expected to converge on the resort from August 19–23, 2026, for five days of amateur and professional racing.
The course winds through the lower section of Bear Mountain, threading together existing ski runs and fire roads into a 3-mile trail that includes a berm. Race Director Aaron Cooke says the mountain setting sets the event apart. "The event attracts riders from across the country who come to test themselves against the mountain and compete in an atmosphere unlike any traditional motocross or off-road race venue," Cooke said.
Beyond the racing, organizers are billing the event as a family outing. More than 30 vendors will be on hand offering gear, accessories, food, and industry demos. Racing runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and anyone who wants to attend — competitor or spectator — must purchase a wristband for entry.

The event sponsored by O'Neal is being held at the resort for just the second time. The mountains that are home to skiers and snowboarders in winter will be the place where more than 900 motocross riders will gather on Aug. 19-23.
