Power outage hits Alpine Slide and Metcalf Bay area Wednesday morning

Big Bear Valley Electric Service says most homes have been restored, but a small number of customers in the Metcalf Bay area remain without power as of 9:15 a.m.

A localized power outage struck homes near the Alpine Slide and Metcalf Bay area on the morning of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, according to Big Bear Valley Electric Service. BVES first reported the outage at approximately 8:26 a.m., saying crews were on their way to investigate.

By 9:15 a.m., the utility posted an update: "Power has now been restored to a majority of homes in this area. A small number of homes remain out, and our crews are currently working on that issue".

Customers in the affected area who are still without power can contact BVES directly to report their address and check on restoration status.
