Local Big Bear Valley children in grades three through seven will have the chance to hit the slopes this winter when the Dick Kun Kids' Ski Camp returns to Snow Summit January 5–8, 2027, running each morning from 9 AM to noon.
The camp honors the legacy of Dick Kun, a former Snow Summit CEO credited with bringing skiing to residents throughout Big Bear and across Southern California. Donations made in his memory fund the program, which aims to introduce local kids to what organizers describe as a lifelong love of the sport. Details about Kun's biography and passing could not be confirmed from available sources.
Instruction on the snow will come from Snow Summit Race Team coaches and racers, giving participants access to some of the mountain's most experienced competitive skiers.
Families should be aware that the camp is not open to the general public. Big Bear Valley schools have already reached out directly to eligible families, so parents and guardians with questions are encouraged to contact their child's school rather than Snow Summit itself. No registration link is publicly available.
Perspectives from participating families, school administrators, and camp organizers were not available at the time of publication.
