Power shutoff possible Saturday for Big Bear Valley customers
SCE has flagged a potential PSPS from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, driven by high winds and fire conditions — and if SCE cuts its lines, most or all BVES customers could lose power.

Bear Valley Electric Service is warning customers that a public safety power shutoff (PSPS) could affect Big Bear Valley this Saturday. Southern California Edison notified BVES of a potential shutoff on Oct. 10, 2026 — originally projected to run from 12:01 a.m. to 9 p.m., but as of a 4 p.m. update on Oct. 8, the window of concern was narrowed to 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.[1]
The risk is tied to high winds and fire conditions that may affect SCE's transmission lines serving the Big Bear area.[1] No outage is currently scheduled, but BVES cautions that if SCE de-energizes those lines, "BVES will have very limited capacity, and some or all customers may experience an outage."[1]
BVES is urging customers to prepare now for the possibility of an extended outage.[1] For updates, visit bvesinc.com, follow BVES on Facebook, or call (800) 808-2837.[1]
