BVES resource center to open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during power shutoffs

Bear Valley Electric Service says its Community Resource Center keeps extended hours during public safety power shutoffs, a resource for customers if Saturday's possible outage happens.

Bear Valley Electric Service customers who lose power during a public safety power shutoff (PSPS) can go to the BVES Community Resource Center, which is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during PSPS outages, according to a BVES notice posted Oct. 8.

The notice said Southern California Edison had informed BVES of a potential shutoff Saturday, Oct. 10, because high winds and fire conditions could affect SCE lines serving the area. If SCE de-energizes those lines, BVES said, it will have very limited capacity, and some or all of its customers may lose power.

The notice gave the potential shutoff window as 12:01 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Customers should check BVES updates for the latest timing. The notice does not say what services the resource center offers or give its address.

BVES said no outage was scheduled when it posted the notice. It urged customers to prepare for the possibility of an extended outage and to keep monitoring BVES updates.
